Obama’s Foreign Policy In Two Words: Negligence Kills

During the third and final Presidential debate, Mitt Romney has a once in a lifetime opportunity blow this campaign wide open if he successfully casts the Libyan Embassy attacks in their correct light: Obama’s negligence.

If Romney chooses to play it safe, he will doom his campaign to failure.  Rather, I say Mr. Romney should hold Mr. Obama accountable for his negligence before, during, and after the Libya Embassy attacks.  In an age where accountability seems to be missing, holding the current President accountable for his Administrations continual mis-steps on all things economic – and foreign relations would send a positive signal to Romney’s base, and the critical “swing voters” who are dying to see someone held accountable for the mess this country is in.

Obama’s negligence has resulted in the death of 4 American’s in Libya.  His subsequent dishonesty regarding what happened has the potential to impact the voting decisions of undecided low information voters. There will be millions of people watching on Monday night who have not been following this scandal closely and they want to know who is accountable. 

This is a key moment in the Romney and Obama campaigns.  Obama with Candy Crowley’s aid last week flat-out lied when he claimed he called the Libya Embassy Attacks “an act of terror.”  The record shows Mr. Obama said no such thing.  Now is the time for Mr. Romney to go for the kill, so to speak.  Playing it ‘safe’ would mean he sit’s back and hopes Obama doesn’t get lucky during the debate. 

Hillary Clinton made that mistake in 2008, Mr. Romney.  Are you listening?

Ohio, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Iowa are on the verge of swinging to Romney.  In these four states the race is within 1 point of swinging to Romney.  Momentum is on his side, is now the time to play it safe?

The choice Mr. Romney must make is to go aggressively after Obama and hold him accountable for both the lack of security in Benghazi, and the Obama Administration’s repeated failed attempts to paint what happened as anything other than a terrorist attack against America.

Ultimately the question of Libya is going to come up, whether Bob Schieffer asks the question or not.  Here’s how Mr. Romney should handle the situation:

First, Mr. Romney should state that what happened in Benghazi resulted in the deaths of four Americans including Ambassador Chris Stevens, an act that has not occurred since the Carter Administration in 1979.

Second, Mr. Romney should state clearly that the issue continues to receive a lot of attention more than two months later as a direct result of the Obama Administration’s continued efforts to paint the issue as something other than a terrorist attack.  Name Al-Qaeda as the terrorist group responsible.

Third, state clearly that because the Obama Administration cannot seem to get the facts or its story straight, many American’s including many in the media believe that a cover-up has taken place.  Here Mr. Romney has any number of media published reports to back this claim:

CNN reported “On 9/12 and even before then, the CIA and other sources within the State Department made the administration aware that the attack was not related to any demonstration (there was no demonstration) and that attack was a terrorist attack”

On 9/12, President Obama gave a speech where he decried a youtube video, made a comment about 9/11/01, and made a generic comment that “No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation”. Note that, contrary to the President’s contention in the last debate, he did NOT, during this speech specifically label the Benghazi attack a “terror attack”

The American people were led to believe by the President’s spokesperson Jay Carney, Susan Rice (during appearances on six Sunday TV shows the weekend of September 30th), the President himself and other surrogates that the attack resulted from a spontaneous demonstration stemming from a youtube video.  The President himself was asked several times, on television shows such as “The View” and the David Letterman show whether the attack was a terror attack. Obama flatly refused to say that it was.  Obama also blamed the You Tube video multiple times during his address to the United Nations on September 21st, never once saying it was a terrorist attack. 

 

Finally, Mr. Romney should state the number of security breaches that have occurred in the last 12 months in Libya.  I’m not going to suggest he specify the dates, there are too many.  The number is sufficient.  In citing the number of security breaches, Mr. Romney should also remind the President (as he turns, looks, and stares at Obama) that each and every September 11th, Embassies around the world have increased security. 

Then Mr. Romney should ask this question: Why didn’t Benghazi have additional protection on September 11th, the anniversary of the terrorist attacks that brought down the World Trade Center?

The American people are demanding answers to these questions, rightfully so.  Obama’s “lead from behind” foreign policy strategy has proven to be an unmitigated disaster for America. 

Further, the “arab spring” that Mr. Obama has promoted has resulted in Islamic theocracies taking hold in Libya, Egypt and Syria is on the brink.  The muslim brotherhood has firm holds in all three and they are no friends to America. 

Mr. Obama also failed to encourage the peaceful turnover of Iran in the summer of 2009 when hundreds of thousands of students peacefully demonstrated for regime change, only to be shot dead in the streets while Mr. Obama looked the other way.

Will Mr. Romney go after Mr. Obama full-force on these issues? 

If he does, it’ll be game, set and match for Romney.

The American people are demanding accountability for these failures and Mr. Obama needs to be put on the hook for it.

Any way the American people look at Mr. Obama’s answers, he’ll be viewed as being dishonest at best, ignorantly incompetent at worst.  Obama simply cannot simply explain away the multitude of different answers he and members of his Administration have given on Libya.

Ambassador Chris Stevens did not have a Marine detail in Benghazi, Libya. But White House Senior Advisor and Obama confidante Valerie Jarrett has a full Secret Service detail on vacation in Martha’s Vineyard, according to Democratic pollster Pat Caddell.

That’s the pathetic foreign policy of the Obama administration, says Caddell today in an exclusive interview with Breitbart News. “Jarrett seems to have a 24 hour, around the clock detail, with five or six agents full time,” Caddell explains. “The media has been completely uninterested. We don’t provide security for our ambassador in Libya, but she needs a full Secret Service security detail. And nobody thinks there’s anything wrong with this. And nobody in the press will ask. What kind of slavish stoogery are they perpetrating here?

“This country has reached the point of absurdity. There are people dead because we don’t have security details for them. But she’s privileged to have a full Secret Service detail on vacation?”

Caddell does reserve heavy criticism for the Republican establishment, which he believes has ignored foreign policy issues for far too long. “When three quarters of the American people believe Iran will give nuclear weapons to terrorists, you can see that Americans care about this issue. And people overwhelmingly believe that Obama’s sanctions policies will not work. The pronounced minority who disagree with those positions seem to be centered in the mainstream media – and ground zero seems to be at NBC and MSNBC.”

Press Endangers Private Citizen to Hide Obama’s Middle East Failures

Instead of questioning President Barack Obama about the intelligence and security failures that led to the deaths of four diplomatic personnel in Libya Tuesday, the media has focused its ire on a California private citizen.

The filmmaker allegedly behind the YouTube clip known as "Innocence of Muslims," known as "Sam Bacile," has had his real identity outed by the press. Reporters hounded those involved with the video's production and matched up the man's cell phone number with a previous interview subject who denied directing the movie.

Reuters photographer Lucy Nicholson took photographs of the man's home and his car, including his license plate number and closeups of possessions in the front seat, and they have been published by Yahoo News as of this writing. News agencies have further exposed the man's criminal history and past financial issues.
Sound familiar?

Sam "Joe" Wurzelbacher became a household name for asking a question of presidential candidate Obama that yielded an embarrassing answer. Immediately, the press began digging for dirt on the man, who came to be known as "Joe the Plumber" -- and received it, thanks to an improper database search from an Ohio state official.

The template is predictable: private citizen hurts Obama's election chances, media destroys private citizen. So far this election season, journalistic ire has focused on Republican donors such as Sheldon Adelson and David Koch. In the case of Mr. "Bacile," though, it's much worse.
This man, unlike Joe the Plumber, did not even confront or intend to harm Barack Obama. He merely had the misfortune of being the one YouTube user whose content mocking the prophet Mohammed was picked up by Arabic media and exploited to whip up anti-American mobs. Yet, like Joe the Plumber, the situation created by those circumstances has embarrassed Obama, now the Commander-in-Chief.

The Middle Eastern riots for which this film was scapegoated have shown President Obama to be weak-willed, slow to act, and derelict in his duty during a foreign policy crisis. And this makes the press furious. He's their guy; their drool over his foreign policy genius at the Democratic National Convention has barely dried up off the floor, and now some random guy eligible for a McDonald's senior discount just obliterated that entire narrative. Therefore, he must pay.

The irony of this debacle is that the press has outed Mr. "Bacile" to hold him accountable for being careless about others' safety. The very crowd who caution artists that the only natural conclusion to hurting Muslims' "religious feelings" is widespread violence and killing are now providing the same Muslim world with all the information needed to track this man down.

This private individual and GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney have been the outlet for the mainstream media's rage -- not at the loss of American lives but at the loss of Barack Obama's credibility. Is that an unfair evaluation of their mindset? Absolutely not; just take a look at their actions. Obama's press corps has yet to ask the president one question about the week's continuing violence. Not one question asking whether the State Department considered posting extra security at Mideast embassies for the anniversary of 9/11. Not one question about his regular absence from daily intelligence briefings. Not one question about taking 16 hours to disavow a tone-deaf apology from the U.S.'s Cairo embassy.

All the questions, the hounding, the journalistic tenacity have been reserved for Mitt Romney -- not a politician in control of anything but a candidate -- and a private citizen who clearly did not intend to inspire any violence. In fact, CBS and NPR reporters were caught on tape conspiring to ask difficult questions of Mr. Romney, who voluntarily took questions from reporters, whereas President Obama jetted off to Las Vegas to campaign without taking any questions.

The example of Mr. "Bacile" is a new, wretched low for the American press. Any news editor with common sense knows that publishing his personal information at this time, including photos of his house and cars, is placing him in danger. And to have gone ahead and published, it's clear that they want just that. You can feel the seething anger in their reports, the lust for vengeance. In their twisted minds, he is the problem, not America's weak leadership.

His ideology or intentions don't matter. What matters is the outcome they attribute to him -- Obama's damaged image. And for that, he is the enemy.

Prominent Members of Chicago’s Black Community Know There’s No Second Term for Obama

I’m just back from a delightful trip down to a little sandwich shop on the Southside of Chicago where prominent members of the black community enjoy lunch served up with a side of political gossip. I relish the occasions I get invited to these little meetings and never know who’ll be sitting at the table with me but love the jerk chicken combo with extra “bodacious sauce”. In a corner over by a colorful mural celebrating the roaring-twenties and jazz I got an earful about the black community’s feeling about both the Obamas and their abandonment of Chicago for the sunny shores of Oahu in January.

This group of influential black Chicagoans calls themselves, informally, “The Think Squad” and has been a big help with stories and activities in the past. If you consider the Jesse Jacksons, Al Sharptons, and other “Justice Brothers” types on one side of the spectrum…the Think Squad is the polar opposite. These are good people who openly talk about how terrible the Democrat community has been for black people for the last four or five decades and how Obama and his acolytes have made a great many things worse for blacks since he took office. The Think Squad is not happy about the amnesty efforts for criminal Hispanics who broke American laws but are now able to push blacks out of work because of Obama’s intention to allow these people to become job-seekers in this dreadful economy. As one person at the table noted by waiving her hand at the scene out the window, “What the Hell has gotten any better since he became President.

Where’s all that hope and change? All I see is crime and trash”.

“Listen bud, there’s no second term nothing and they know as much,” a Think Squader told me between bites of his bodacious sandwich. “All this is for show. Axelrod has already moved on but no one knows what to do and they’re kind of just limping around without a plan hoping those Romney people mess up or the media drags them across the finish line. But ain’t nobody in that top tier who thinks he’s going to win. It’s just not happening because they can’t fool people a second time”.

I know there are many of you who — for whatever reason — still sit in front of your televisions with your eyes pried wide open taking in all the lies the corrupt media tells you. Why you do this is beyond me. I also don’t understand why you still pay for newspaper subscriptions or think that the polls Chris Matthews and Rachel Maddow recite to you are in any way accurate. I can find no gentle way to stay this but if you believe what the tee-vee tells you, then you’re foolish. After four long years of watching the corrupt media relentlessly lie to drag Obama over the finish line if you have not picked up on the fact that everyone on television is working hard under the Democrats’ banner then there is truly something wrong with you. You are a lost cause.

You need to get out into your community and get the scoop from real people on the ground.
You need to see what’s going on with your OWN EYES and listen with your OWN EARS to get the stories the media won’t ever tell you.

You need to talk to a “Think Squad” of your own wherever you can find one.

The Think Squad confirmed what I’ve been hearing through friends whose families know Marion Robinson, the current “First Grandmother” and Michelle’s mother: the Obamas and those close to them are preparing to decamp to Honolulu, Hawaii and live out his post-presidency in the post suburb of Kailua. This is Hawaii’s Beverly Hills. The Think Squad had a great time mocking the hula and pretending to sip mai-tais and pina-coladas as they regaled me with all the things Marion’s been “bragging-on” about the house she expects to live in come January when the Obamas depart the White House and Marion comes with them. They’ll still have servants, Secret Service guards, a chef, and almost all of the amenities they enjoy now. But it will be a permanent vacation mode instead of the short bursts of paradise these people experienced on their many jaunts to Hawaii over the last four years before their usual return to Washington. But now, they won’t ever have to go back to DC and Marion is especially gleeful that they won’t be coming back to Chicago ever, either.

“She hates the cold and is glad to never have to come back here,” another person at the table told me while munching on some sweet potato chips at lunch. I dipped some in hot sauce like she did and discovered a new favorite snack as she told me how she, too, would love to abandon Chicago winters forever and never have to come back here.

The general consensus is that black people will keep voting Democrat in droves because that’s “just what we do” but that there is nowhere near the excitement levels of 2008. ”People will not be lining up to do nothing for him in November ’cause he didn’t do nothing for us for four years”, any angry Think Squader told me from the other end of the table. The mood indicated that black turnout would not be anywhere in the realm of 2008 and would instead sink down to more normal participation rates — which jives with everything you should be noticing in terms of enthusiasm for Obama across the board.

 People are over Obama, like he’s a rapper who has not had a big hit in a while or a singer whose last few albums have bombed. You still see people peddling the Obama tee shirts on the south side, “but you ain’t see nobody BUYING them, do you?”. I was told to look closely at those shirts and see for myself that many of them were left over from years ago. Nobody’s bothered to make up new designs for 2012 here on the Southside and the raggedy shirts for sale on the street corners are still sporting HOPE and CHANGE logos alongside the usual portraits of Obama’s disembodied head floating in glory with those of Dr. King, Malcolm X, and even, randomly, Tupak Shakur at times.

The table burst out into loud laughter when I asked if anyone believed there was even a remote chance that the Obama Presidential Library and Museum could be coming to Chicago and every last member of the Think Squad said “that thing’s going on the beach somewhere in Hawaii where it belongs”. There is no delusion that Chicago would get any sort of perk or pay-back for sending the Obamas to Washington. ”What do they care about Chicago for when they got everything they needed out of this place and there’s nothing more they need?”. The consensus was that Obama has a long established pattern of taking what he needs, then moving on to someplace new to acquire new resources there, and then moving on to whatever he thinks can help him advance again.

Hawaii is the next roosting place for the Obamas because his post-presidency will be all about becoming “The President of the World” since he can’t get any higher in this country than the plateau he’s already reached. He’ll travel abroad, give big speeches, and spend the rest of his life touring Asian and Middle Eastern countries talking about how much the West misunderstands Islam and how much America has to apologize for. A good number of the Think Squaders don’t see too long of a post-presidency for Obama.

Some think he’s sick (with Parkinson’s, as we’ve talked about on this site for years) and others think he might even have HIV (due to his inexplicable weight loss). ”He’s got the Slims and it shows”, somebody at the table said, drawing an awkward silence as a waitress walked around picking up trash while trying not to seem like she was listening to the boisterous group in the corner. ”The Slims” is slang in Chicago’s black community for HIV/AIDS. One in five black men in Chicago have HIV who engage in any sort of homosexual activity; this includes guys who are married and still fool around with men but don’t consider themselves bisexuals or “punks”, which is black slang for a gay man of color.

There was no doubt at the table that Barack Obama is gay and has been part of the “down low club” that’s incredibly common in big cities like Chicago where gay black men desperately seek to avoid being labeled as “punks” by taking a wife and creating a public sham of a marriage. Normally, the woman in these relationships is somehow undesirable and difficult to deal with, which is why a straight man would not want to touch her. A few good examples of this are Star Jones, Terry McMillen, Oprah Winfrey, Jada Pickett Smith, and of course Michelle Obama. All of them either married or have a longterm relationship with a gay black man (a “punk”) but who enjoy the benefits of having this man on their arm (for however long it lasts, in the case of Jones and McMillen). One of these women is a lesbian who not only has benefitted career-wise from being married to a punk but who also hides her own homosexuality by faking a marriage.

It’s hilarious sitting at a table in a sandwich shop with people who know the real score about stuff like this and realizing just how many millions of people out there who rely on the corrupt media for their news haven’t the slightest clue in Hell what’s really going on.

Some in the Think Squad believe that Obama will just come out when he ascends to that international stage in his post-presidency but others think he’ll never do that for fear of retaliation from Muslims. It’s common practice for Muslim men to continue having relations with other males while manifestly heterosexual and married, especially if the wife in question is mannish and overbearing much like Michelle. ”If you can’t see it just by looking at him, then you’re stupid” said one of my lunch mates today. I 100% agree with that and will never understand how any of this is a mystery to Americans. I guess they just don’t want to see Obama for who he really is and maybe never will.

As lunch wrapped up today and I put on my sweatshirt for the long walk back to the Red Line, the parting thoughts from the group were these:

* No — black people are not going to riot when Barack Obama loses. Black people have pretty much given up on this guy, mainly because of the fact he didn’t deliver on his promises to them but also a lot of them see that he’s gay and don’t like that and also don’t like the gay marriage “stuff” he was “talking about a lot this year”.

* No — there’s not a snowball’s chance in Hell that blacks will vote Republican this year because they will NOT vote against Obama. They will instead sit home. ”He didn’t help me, so I ain’t helping him!” is the motto this year. Count on black turnout to be at 2004 levels, not 2008 numbers the way the corrupt media is baking into all those polls that get conservatives worked up where they show Obama leading. Without blacks voting at 2008 numbers, Obama loses Ohio, Florida, North Carolina, and Virginia with no hope of making up those numbers with other groups. It’s as simple as that.

* Yes — the Obamas are already planning their move to Hawaii. Michelle is actually happy about this as she does not like being First Lady. She will enjoy having all the perks of the position for the rest of her life without any of the hard work. She is looking forward to a life of luxury and fun for the rest of her days. Michelle’s mother is thrilled to be leaving Washington for Hawaii permanently. All those years of putting up with her “punk-ass son-in-law” as she called him have finally paid off for her in her mind, because she never dreamed she’d get to retire on an estate in Hawaii that can only be described as “royal”. Obama himself didn’t actually like being president. It was always a step towards something bigger. He really wants to be UN Secretary General or something and lord over the whole world. His ego and narcissism have no bounds.

* Yes — the Think Squad believes Obama will lose, despite what the corrupt media tells you, because “who in their right mind would believe this man again when he made a mess the first time?”. Without the mass-hysteria of Hopeychange and the threats of “if you don’t vote for him then you are a racist” there’s no wave of emotion for Obama to surf to re-election. That means no second term.

That’s how the Think Squad sees it as prominent members of the Chicago black community at least.

Terrorists In The White House

Islamic Terrorist Hani Nour Eldin has been invited to meet with Obama Administration Officials. 

Terrorists aren’t supposed to get visas, that however doesn't appear to be stopping Obama Administration officials from issuing them.  Did they forget to Google this guy? Nour Eldin is a member of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt and an MP from the Islamist Reconstruction and Development Party.


The Muslim Brotherhood is still on the United States Terrorism List, why's this guy going to the White House to meet with Obama Administration officials?

It was supposed to be a routine meeting for Egyptian legislators in Washington, an opportunity for senior Obama administration officials to meet with new members of Egypt’s parliament and exchange ideas on the future of relations between the two countries.

Instead, the visit this week looks like it’s turning into a political fiasco. Included in the delegation of Egyptian lawmakers was Hani Nour Eldin, who, in addition to being a newly elected member of parliament, is a member of the Gamaa Islamiya, or the Egyptian Islamic Group—a U.S.-designated terrorist organization.

Five Impeachable Offenses In Sixty Days

Richard Nixon was nearly impeached before he resigned the Presidency for far less offense than the Obama Administration has committed in the last sixty days, in Obama’s case the cover-up is just beginning.

You may be wondering just what in the blue hell I’m talking about, so let me lay out for you what those impeachable offenses are clearly so that you, my dear reader understand exactly where it is I’m coming from.

Before I begin, let me remind you what the President’s oath of office is:

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.

How has Obama failed in his Duties as President of the United States?

1. The leak this week of the methods, sources and techniques of this nations capabilities as they pertain to Cyber-Warfare, and our nation’s role in halting Iran’s nuclear capabilities via the Stuxnet virus, which damaged Iranian centrifuges setting Iran back one to two years in their nuclear program.  This was an admission of the United States’ role in the Cyber-War against Iran, and in my opinion was Obama “thumping his chest” publicly to boost his election chances.
2. Leaking our ability to infiltrate muslim terrorist organizations, and how we are able to locate and kill them with drones.  Here we cannot begin to count the number of National Security, FBI, CIA, NSA agents who’s lives are now in danger because of this leak.  Undoubtedly, lives have already been lost we’re just not aware of them yet.
3. Leaking the existence of a CIA double agent embedded inside of al-Qaida.  I don’t think I need to extrapolate on this one.
4. Leaking our capabilities to spy on Iranian nuclear facilities.  Here we’ve given Iran our “playbook” on how we gather information on them, which in turn enables them to counteract our capabilities and stop us from gathering intel.
5. Leaking our war plans, should the United Sates be drawn into war after an Israeli attack on Iran’s nuclear sites.

Each one of these leaks endangers the lives of our men and women in Afghanistan and Iraq, our CIA, FBI and NSA intelligence agents overseas, and gives Iran and our enemies our “playbook” on how the United States of America defends itself against its enemies, in this case Iran’s nuclear threat specifically.

Clearly all five are violations of the President’s responsibility to protect and defend the United States of America from all enemies (both foreign and domestic) as well as the Oath of Office which Obama took to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America.

There is no doubt in my mind that all five leaks came from the White House directly and that all five leaks were also done to present Obama as “tough on terrorism” in an attempt to boost his election prospects.   Narcissist that he is, Obama just cannot stop bragging about himself or puffing himself up which has now put him in the position of having to defend himself against one of his primarily liberal lamestream media defenders, the New York Times.  Either Obama is lying, or the New York Times is.  Given the New York Times claims dozens of Obama Administration sources stating the leak is coming directly from the White House, who are we to believe? 

The House of Representatives must act to impeach and remove Barack Hussein Obama from office, as is it’s Constitutional Duty under Article I, Section II of the Constitution.

As stated in Federalist No. 65 by Alexander Hamilton, “Impeachment is a method of national inquest into the conduct of public men.”  Hamilton and the framers of the Constitution knew that the history of impeachment as a Constitutional process dated from 14th Century England, when the fledgling Parliament at it’s establishment sought to make the King’s advisors accountable.

What better way to hold Obama accountable for his leaking sensitive information to boost his election prospects than by impeaching him? 

Knowing House Speaker Boehner (R. OH) lacks the backbone to do so, the American People have the responsibility come November to impeach Obama at the ballot box, and remove him from office. 

It is now up to us my friends, to protect and defend the United States of America from all enemies foreign and domestic, and that includes the enemy inside the White House.

As American's, we must never forget the Muslim Islamic terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001.  To do so would diminish the distinctly human value of the lives lost on that day, and I believe in my heart of hearts that America is a bigger country than that.

Whatever problems besiege us today, we simply must remember what happened that day and put it in its proper context. To fail to do so would mean the lives lost on that day were in vain, and history would be doomed to repeat itself.  We must honor our sacred responsibility as American's to never allow that to happen.

On that tragic day, we were attacked by Muslim Islamic Fundamentalists who seek to destroy us, our culture and our way of life.  They seek to impose their will on us, by force.  These same Muslim Islamic Fundamentalists today pose as "moderate" Muslims and use our laws against us in our own country in their attempts to impose their will upon us by force of threat.  I speak of the "mosque" at Ground Zero.

What is lost on our "politicians" and the liberal lamestream media is the fact that where ever muslims believe they have won a 'war' in a foreign land they build a mosque.  It's their victory flag in America that they seek to plant.  We must never allow that to happen and we must hold those 'politicians' and other government bureaucrats that seek to allow it to happen accountable by voting them out office. 

Worldwide, muslims are "offended" that we as American's are speaking out against this 'mosque' at Ground Zero.  Speaking out against a wrong is our God given American right and we will exercise it vigorously.  Just as so-called 'moderate' muslims claim they have a 'right' to build a mosque at ground zero, we American's have a right given by God and our United States Constitution to speak out against this abomination of a 'mosque' on what we consider to be sacred ground.

Frankly, I'm offended that our 'politicians' seemingly give preferential treatment to a religion that stones a woman to death after she has been raped.  Why should I care about offending such a backwards 7th century 'religion' that stones the victim of a crime to death while allowing her rapist to go free?

Similarly, I'm offended by a 'pastor' that calls himself a "Christian" who acts so provocatively to draw attention to himself by promoting the burning of the book of another 'religion.'  What purpose does this serve?  Is this what Jesus would do?

And why is the liberal lamestream media focusing on the irresponsible actions of a so-called 'pastor' and not paying any attention to the actions of muslims world-wide that have been burning Christian Bibles, beheading non-muslims and recently burning and trampling on the American flag?  Could it be because it doesn't suit their Christian hating liberal agenda?

All these things have cluttered my mind the last few days, and as today approached I realized I was beginning to lose sight of what happened that day, September 11th, 2001.  All these things from the 'mosque' at ground zero, quran burnings in Florida and flag burning in Afghanistan are distractions designed to take away from the meaning of today and I've decided I'll have none of it.

So today I ask you to join me in putting all these things aside for today, and focus on the events of that day.  For me that means putting up my flag at the break of dawn, a day of prayer, and tearfully acknowledging the lives lost that day.  

Those who fail to remember history are doomed to repeat it.

Obama Sides With Terrorists - AGAIN!

Administration halts prosecution of USS Cole bomber

The Obama administration has shelved the planned prosecution of Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri, the alleged coordinator of the Oct. 2000 suicide attack on the USS Cole in Yemen, according to a court filing.

The decision at least temporarily scuttles what was supposed to be the signature trial of a major al-Qaeda figure under a reformed system of military commissions. And it comes practically on the eve of the 10th anniversary of the attack, which killed 17 sailors and wounded dozens when a boat packed with explosives ripped a hole in the side of the warship in the port of Aden.

In a filing this week in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, the Justice Department said that "no charges are either pending or contemplated with respect to al-Nashiri in the near future."

The statement, tucked into a motion to dismiss a petition by Nashiri's attorneys, suggests that the prospect of further military trials for detainees held at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, has all but ground to a halt, much as the administration's plan to try the accused plotters of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks in federal court has stalled.

Editor: Color me speechless, and that takes alot folks.  First Obama endorses a mosque at Ground Zero with a muslim imam who said "America brought 9-11 on itself" and now this.  Do we really need any more proof this pResident is a terrorist loving muslim?  I think not.

The American Thinker is one of my personal favorite blogs and I try to read it daily. 
This morning AT had an article similar to what I’d posted yesterday, although I do have to admire someone who can more eloquently make a case better than I as to why they think (or may not think) Obama is a muslim. 
The American Thinker’s article is replete with facts and examples that I’d missed, which go to the heart as to why so many American’s are “confused” about what religion Barack Hussein Obama really is. 
While I won’t post the entire article here, I will share with you my favorite excerpt:

We know you claim him to be a Christian.  We know Obama has at times claimed to be a Christian.  We know Jeremiah Wright's Trinity Church claims to be some kind of Christian denomination.  We simply doubt it.  And the more we watch all of you, the less we are inclined to believe any of it.

And there the argument is in a nutshell. The media is going out of its way to try and convince us the ignorant, unwashed masses that Obama’s a “Christian” and that we’re all mistaken about who and what he really is.

Case in point, this condesending piece of “reporting” from ABC’s “Good Morning America” just yesterday:

Don’t you just love the “mainstream media” telling you that you’re “confused” and “misinformed?”  Here we have a prime example of the Obama State Controlled Media trying to tell you and I what to think, and their frustration that we’re simply not buying it is noticeable.

We also know his father was a Muslim.  We know his stepfather was a Muslim.  We know that under Sharia Law, he is a Muslim, and that much of the Muslim World regards him as a Muslim. We know his mother was an atheist.  We know Obama sent a bureaucrat out to claim that NASA's top mission was Muslim outreach.  We know he skipped the Boy Scout's 100^th Anniversary bash.  We know he's had a couple Freudian slips pertaining to his faith.  We know he has called the Islamic call to prayer the most beautiful sound on earth.

So what does all this polling data really mean?  Do somewhere between 18-24% of American’s genuinely believe that Obama is a muslim, or is it simply as The American Thinker states, a way of voting against Obama before the November elections?

Frankly, I think we know Obama by his own words and deeds as I said yesterday, and based on his own actions, he’s a muslim.  I don’t doubt it anyway.

Obama's comments over the weekend have our terrorist enemies in the Middle East celebrating.

As Obama backed the planting of islam's victory flag near the site of the 9-11 terrorist attacks, muslims around the world started asking "can we practice sharia law in the United States?"

The answer is: of course!  While Obama may not have fully understood the consequences of his statement, muslims in the United States and world-wide certainly did.  We've already had "honor killings" in the United States and forced conversions to islam at islamic day camps in Iowa and Minnesota.  Are sharia courts far behind?  Not if Obama has his way.

Culturally, Obama grew up a muslim which certainly explains his position(s) on the building of a mosque on what you and I would consider "sacred ground."  But not to Obama, who considers the whole issue "traumatic" for many.

Was Pearl Harbor a "traumatic" issue on December 7th, 1941 or was it an act of war?  Of course it was an act of war - just as much as Sept. 11th, 2001 was an act of war against America by radical islamic fundamentalists.  And now these same radical islamic fundamentalists are celebrating the planting of their victory flag within steps of the most horrific attack against America since Pearl Harbor.

We would never let the Japanese fly their national flag above the site of the U.S.S. Arizona, yet Obama doesn't see the conflict of allowing the very religion that attacked our country plant a victory flag via building a mosque, within steps of the World Trade Center.

Culturally, Obama is a muslim.  His father was one, he attended a madrassa, and for a substantive portion of his life he grew up as one.  His "sensitivities" towards muslims don't extend towards Christians and Jews, otherwise he'd have said "you can build your mosque here when the United States of America - a Christian Nation - is allowed to build a Christian worship center in Mecca."

We have a muslim in the White House folks.  Obama removed all doubt this weekend. 

By the way, the Obama's have yet to find a place of Christian Worship in D.C. yet, some 18+ months after Obama assumed the Presidency.  I"m just saying.

Millions More Unemployed Longer Than Ever Before

Lost in last week’s headlines was the fact that the current recession, who’s recovery is hampered by threats of increased taxation, government regulation and excessive government spending on make-work jobs that cost more than $200k per job to create, is the fact that as of the end of December 2009, the United States of America has more unemployed people than any past recession since the Great Depression.

That officially makes this the Great Recession.

The Bureau of Labor & Statistics a department of the Federal Government reported just this past Friday that there are a record number of American’s on long-term unemployment benefits, and that it takes a record amount of time for those who lose their jobs to find new ones.



Nearly 9,000,000 people have been out of work for over 15 weeks, another 6,130,000 have been out of work more than 27 weeks.  That’s 60% of all unemployed. 

Making matters worse, the average amount of time it takes someone who’s been displaced to find a new job (whether in their own field, outside their field, or part time) now takes a record 29 weeks.  That’s the highest in recorded history, or to put it bluntly, another history making Obama first.

Contrast to December of 2008 when the average time to find work was 10.5 weeks, and there were only 2,500,000 on unemployment for 27 weeks or longer.

Clearly Obama’s economic policies have worsened our economic climate, of that there can be no denial, no matter how much Obama tries blaming this extended recession on Bush.

Today there are approximately 17,500,000 Americans out of work once all those who’ve “given up” are also factored back in (that again from the Bureau of Labor & Statistics.)
There can also no longer be any doubt that the unemployment rate has to go up from its current 10% mark due to the nearly 9,000,000 people who’ve been on unemployment for 15 weeks or longer.  The unemployment “bubble” is moving at a rapid pace from short to long term, which also means that those who will be chronically unemployed/under-employed will also grow.

Is it any wonder the Democrats are in trouble for the state of the economy?  Since taking over Congress in 2006 and the White House in 2008, Government spending has grown at its fastest clip post World War II while unemployment has soared and our economy has tanked.  Seems America’s figuring out who’s really responsible for this mess.

Want To Fix The Economy?

It’s Time To De-Stimulate

Larry Kudlow knows economics and knows precisely why the Obama Administration’s “economic policies” are further eroding our economy:

Check this out. On Friday, the day of the sub-par jobs release, President Obama comes out with a new green-jobs program that will cost taxpayers $2.3 billion. He predicts targeted tax credits for all of his faddish "energy savers" -- presumably determined by hoards of EPA bureaucrats -- will create 17,000 new jobs. This is out of a total workforce of 153 million.
And wait, it gets better. The average cost of these alleged new green jobs will be $135,000 per job. It's sorta like the $780 billion stimulus plan, half of which has supposedly saved 1 million jobs at roughly $200,000 per job.

And on the subject of energy-related jobs, the EPA is now going to penalize manufacturing America -- or what's left of it -- with tougher standards to reduce smog. Of course, smog has already fallen 25 percent in the last three decades. And the EPA's projected smog savings are so miniscule compared to the new costs for business that the National Association of Manufacturers, the petrochemical makers and others are screaming bloody murder.

Given the Obama “stimulus package” promised to keep unemployment under 8%, and the threat of increased taxes on small businesses and heavy government regulations on the financial services sector has kept lending to small businesses down exacerbating the credit crunch, you and I just know that there’s alot of pent up demand for housing, cars and ultimately new jobs that consumers and businesses have put “on hold” because they don’t know what this half-assed Government is going to do next.  Let’s face it, we’re all just waiting for the other shoe to drop!

I’m not an economics expert, I don’t play one on TV but I did have economics in Graduate School and considered switching to an Economics Major so here’s my thinking on the subject: Our economy has just about “bottomed out” from a hiring perspective.  That is to say, we’ve reached the minimum amount of workers it takes to keep the economy crawling along at the snails pace it is.  Companies large and small just aren’t going to hire anyone until there’s some sort of certainty as to how much (or preferably, how little) the Obama Administration is going to continue meddling in, and screwing up the economy.

Given the Democrats have super-majorities in the House, Senate and control the White House (as well as the media!) the only way to bring back economic certainty at this point is to throw the Democrats out of power.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not advocating for the Republicans (or “stupid” party as I call them of late..) but what other choice is there?  The Democrats have proven they’re a bunch of socialist/marxists they are with government “bailouts”, seizing GM and Chrysler, “Czars” and trying to seize control of our health care.  Most Republican voters (75% according to a recent Rasmussen poll) say their own elected leaders are “out of touch” with the party’s base.

A third-party would simply split the Moderate and Conservative votes in the Republican and Democrat parties keeping the extreme left-wing Democrats in power.  Frankly, this country just won’t survive another few years of that.  It’s time we the working voters of this country took charge and kicked the welfare rats and moochers of this country in the ass by voting all incumbents out of office!

Today I announce my support for GOOH – Get Out Of Our House.   This is a nationwide movement sprung from the Tea Parties to Clean the House & Senate.  That’s right: Vote out every single incumbent, period.  Clearly neither party takes us seriously so it’s time to throw them all out.  No exceptions.  I hope you’ll join me in supporting GOOOH and taking back our Government.  It’s the best, fastest way I can think of in returning fiscal sanity to our Government.

Today, the Obama administration announced that Gitmo detainees are to be transferred to the Thomson Correctional Center, located 150 miles west of Chicago.  No trials are planned.

Is Obama violating the law, and is this an impeachable offense?

Obama Administration officials  admit that the current law allows for bringing in Gitmo inmates for putting them on trial however a change in the current law would be required for transferring terrorists to Thomson Correctional Center for any purpose other than prosecution.

This is a clear admission that the Obama administration is violating U.S. Law, and that is an impeachable offense under Article II, Section 3 of the United States Constitution which requires the President of the United States to take care that all laws are faithfully executed.

Where is the outrage in the media and the halls of Congress?  Our media is so corrupted that they no longer do their jobs and report the facts.  The Republican Party is so afraid of the "racist" label that they've ceded nearly every part of the Constitution to be corrupted by the Idiot in Chief.

Obama Blames Small Business For Lack of Jobs

Summit Exposes Lack of Business, Economics Experience

Barack Hussein Obama has never held a job in the private sector, so is it any wonder that yesterday Obama blamed small business owners for “protecting their profits” as one of the primary reasons the unemployment rate is so high?

This gem was followed by yet another “brilliant” statement that the Government "”cannot spend its way out of recession.”

Almost $2,000,000,000,000 dollars later, reality sets in that the Government doesn’t create jobs, business’ do.  We all know that Small Businesses are the economic engine of this country, yet Obama continues to “bash and tax” them into oblivion whilst simultaneously blaming them for lack of job creation.

As someone who’s started two small businesses, I can speak authoritatively on this issue in saying “of course they protect their profits, for without those profits small business would not be able to employ anyone in the first place, much less be the economic engine of this country.”  Profits drive growth which drives economic expansion and job creation.  It really is that simple, Obama must’ve been all ‘wee-wee’d up” during Economics 101.

The fact is also that laying off employees is typically the last thing most companies want to do.  The cost of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training new employees and making them productive within a company are so exorbitant they often take two years or more to recover. 

So are small businesses reluctant to hire in this economic climate?  You bet they are, and for good reason: We’ve had two years worth of Obama bashing small businesses (one year as a “Candidate”) threatening to increase their taxes and “spread the wealth around.”

It doesn’t take an economic genius to know that this bozo’s economic policies are ruining this country, driving us further and further into debt and eventually the bills are going to come due via higher inflation and a further erosion of the dollar’s purchasing power.

Ronald Wilson Reagan had it exactly right when he said during his first inaugural address: “In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem.”
True then, true now.

Why Is Janet Napolitano Warning Al-Qaeda in America?

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano warned that al-Qaida followers are inside the U.S. and pose the threat of terrorist attacks on Americans.
“The fact is that home-based terrorism is here,” she said in an address to the American-Israel Friendship League in New York on Wednesday night.

I wondered why this “warning” had been issued, then I read several stories about a new muslim terrorist hijacking dry-run that occurred on November 27th on AirTran Flight 297 between Houston and Atlanta that at first sounded very suspicioius, but has since been confirmed by several people who were on the flight, one an employee of NASA named Tedd Petruna.

So my question here is, why is Janet Napolitano “warning” Al-Qaeda in America and not finding and killing the bastards instead?  Where is our national security?  Why are muslims even allowed in America at this point?

Obama’s dithering and mixed signals in winning the war on terror no doubt means we’re going to fighting Al-Qaeda here on our own soil soon vis a vis more 9-11 style attacks. Clearly this “President” doesn’t want to win and our enemies know it.

“Warning” them?  Let’s find ‘em, kill ‘em, wrap their dead bodies in pig skin and drop them off via airmail back home where they belong.

This political correctness bullshit is going to get us all killed.

I wonder if Ayers is going to hold fundraisers for Obama in 2012 after this.  Ayers by the way was the first prominent left-wing liberal marxist in Chicago to host a fundraiser for Obama when he began his U.S. Senate run in 2006. 

Ayers is also widely suspected as being the shadow writer of Obama’s “Dreams of my Father” due to the hundreds of similarities between Obama’s and Ayers’ “writing styles.”

It’s always fun to watch when the left-wing marxist wingnuts turn on each other isn’t it?

Obama Surrenders Afghanistan

Announces Troop Surge, Withdrawal, Welcomes Taliban To The Table In Same Speech

One can only describe Obama’s speech at West Point yesterday as a stunning failure. 

As the television camera’s panned back and forth across the Cadets at West Point it was obvious that not only were they not impressed by the cheese eating surrender monkey in chief, they clearly recognized that this “President” was surrendering to the Taliban and Al-Qaeda terrorist organizations by announcing a withdrawal from Afghanistan in mid 2011.  It didn’t matter that the West Point Cadets were instructed by the West Point leadership to “respond enthusiastically” to Obama’s speech, they recognized surrender when they saw it and reacted accordingly.

Forget the fact that Obama announced a troop “surge” of 30,000 troops over 6 months (averaging 5,000 a month) up to June of 2010, completing the “build up” one year before his announced withdrawal starting in June of 2011, just in time for Obama to begin his campaign for re-election.  Great, let’s march our best and brightest into enemy territory only to have them march right back out a year later, and lesser in numbers.

The announcement of the ‘surge’ was completely overshadowed by Obama’s proclamation that he would welcome the Taliban to the negotiating table as long as they ‘rejected violence.’  These are the same Taliban that gave Osama Bin Laden safe haven before and after the 9-11-01 attacks on this country in which more than 3,000 people were brutally murdered in the largest terrorist attack not just on American soil, but in the history of Bin Laden’s al-Qaeda terrorist organization.

This “President” wants to give the Taliban a place at the table in Afghanistan’s government?  Surrender by any other name is still Surrender and you just know that somewhere that terrorist enabling Jimmy Carter is smiling in approval.

Angry At The Federal Government? You're In Good Company

71% Angry, Up 5 Percentage Points Since September

Rasmussen had an interesting poll yesterday which showed 71% of all American's are "angry" at their Government, saying it's moving in the wrong direction.  46% are "very angry" that the government is moving in the wrong direction while 27% aren't angry at all about "government policies."

So why are the overwhelming majority of so mad?




Let's start with the basics.  10.2% unemployment on average in this country and rising.  Some parts of the country are over 11% and 12%.  Parts of Michigan exceed 20%.  Real Unemployment, which counts those that have exhausted benefits, fallen off the unemployment rolls, or are under-employed in part-time positions averages 17.5%.  That's near Depression Era levels, and the highest it's been since the malaise days and mixery index of Jimmy Carter.

Out of control government spending.  The Obama Administration pissed away $1.5 TRILLION dollars in unaccounted for, wasteful "stimulus" spending that didn't produce a single job, and Congressional earmarks for their own favorite pet projects on top of that.

Government bailouts of the banks, automobile industries which cost taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars ON TOP OF the $1.5 TRILLION above.

Government attempting to seize our Health Care system, ration care, and implement death panels, putting Grrandma and Grandpa at risk by cutting Medicare to the tune of $500,000,000 over the next ten years.

Cap & Trade, which will further kill the economy.

Health Care Taxes, and prison for those who don't buy health care.

Democrats renewing the 'promise' to naturalize nearly 20,000,000 illegal aliens in this country.

A world spinning out of control with a President embracing every third-world tyrant from Ahmedinejad in Iran to Hugo Chavez in Venezuela while simultaneously pissing off the one Democracy in the middle east, Israel.

Frittering away America's best and brightest in Iraq and Afghanistan, dithering on increasing troop counts while our troops die in Afghanistan needlessly.

A nuclear Iran, nuclear North Korea, fully backed by Russia and China respectively.

And finally, bringing the terrorists who helped plan and execute the largest attack ever on American soil to New York City to face trial in a criminal court, rather than subjecting them to military justice as the enemy combatants they are.  Giving American's civil rights to terrorists goes against every Constitutional principle most right thinking American's hold dear.

Sure we're mad as hell, and it's this worthless piece of crap President that's pissing us all off.  That's the hidden message you won't see in these "polls."  You will however see the building rage in this country demonstrated in the ballot box in November 2010.

They must be getting their legal advice from the Obama Administration as you just know Obama wants to keep using ACORN to intimidate voters and get his “health care reform” package passed.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - The scandal-hit liberal grass-roots group ACORN sued the U.S. government on Thursday, saying it did not have the right to cut off ACORN's federal funding because the group had not been convicted of a crime.

The U.S. Congress voted in September to cut off federal money to the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), after conservative activists secretly filmed employees in several cities giving tax and housing advice to a couple posing as a pimp and a prostitute.

"It's not the job of Congress to be the judge, jury, and executioner," said Jules Lobel, an attorney with the Center for Constitutional Rights, which brought the case in Brooklyn federal court.

"We have due process in this country, and our constitution forbids lawmakers from singling out a person or group for punishment without a fair investigation and trial," Lobel said.

Republicans have long accused the group of fraud in registering voters and improperly mixing political and nonpolitical activities. They say it has received $53 million in federal money since 1994.

ACORN, which has also suffered an embezzlement scandal involving the founder's brother, has separately sued the makers of the videos.
The lawsuit seeks a temporary restraining to prevent the Congress from reallocating funds designated for ACORN.

Beyond its voter registration drive, the group promotes affordable housing programs for lower-income people, offers tax counseling and has aggressively fought home foreclosures.

Editors Note: Last time we checked, it was Congress’ job to allocate or de-allocate funds for various Federal priorities such as National Defense, Highways, Bridges, etc.. so I had to laugh out loud at the statement “Congress has no right to be the judge, jury and executioner” as it pertains to cutting off ACORN’s funding.
But now just who is the “Center for Constitutional Rights?”  Here’s who:

• Founded in November, 1966 by left-wing radical attorneys Morton Stavis, Ben Smith, Arthur Kinoy, and none other than William Kunstler himself – all longtime members of the Communist Party and radical left.  (Note: Kinoy and Kunstler are well known for their pro-Cuba and pro-Castro politics.”
• Clients of the “Center for Constitutional Rights” have historically included the Communist Party, the Black Liberation Movement, the Black Panther Party (led by Congressman Bobby Rush, IL) and the infamous Leonard Peltier, an “American Indian Rights Activist” who brutally murdered two FBI agents in 1975, and is serving a life sentence for.
• Major Issues espoused by the “Center for Constitutional Rights” include alleged illegal detention at Guantanamo, “Social Justice”, “Corporate Human Rights Abuse”, “Racial, Gender and Economic Justice” and most famously its lawsuits in Federal Court in the 1960’s that the VietNam war was “unconstitutional and criminal in nature.”
• CCR is also a member of the “Open Borders Lobby” which advocates for unchecked and unlimited immigration, and files countless lawsuits yearly on behalf of convicted felons for “prisoner rights.”

A more left-wing organization to represent ACORN could not possibly be found.  Best of luck with the lawsuit, boys. (/sarc)

 

Obama: We’ve Created or Saved One Million Jobs

And He’s Cut Taxes On The Middle Class!

Right, and I’m Superman.

Now think for a minute: if it were true that Obama’s spending more than a TRILLION of our taxpayer dollars had actually created one million jobs, would the unemployment rate have gone UP again for the 10th straight month in a row?

Obama promised the “economic stimulus” plan would create 3.7 million new jobs and keep unemployment below 8%.  Instead Obama’s mismanagement of our tax dollars have lost 3.6 million jobs and caused unemployment to peak over 10% for the first time in nearly 30 years!

And just where are these “middle class tax cuts” that Obama says have been enacted?  If anything, Obama’s proposed health care reform would be the single largest tax HIKE in the history of the country, far surpassing Bill Clinton’s 1993 tax hike.

Once again, Obama is a damn’ liar.  The only question is how many knee-pad wearing sycophants still believe his bullshit?

Think Again, Democrats To Use "Nuclear Option"

Thursday evening October 29th on Air America,  Democrat James Clyburn discussed the Democrats' plan to use the "nucelar option" to pass ObamaCare.

What is the "nuclear option?"

The Senate does not restrict the total time allowed for debate; instead, a motion for cloture must be passed to end debate. A three-fifths majority (60 Senators), is required to approve the cloture motion and proceed to a vote on the main issue. Thus, although a bill might have majority support, a minority of 41 Senators can prevent a final vote, effectively defeating the bill. In practice, if it is clear that the motion for cloture will not carry, the bill may simply be tabled so that the Senate can conduct other business. From time to time, however, the margin of votes for cloture may be very close, and the minority may wish to stall the cloture vote for as long as possible. Because debate time is unlimited, Senators may simply speak endlessly on the Senate floor to prevent a vote from taking place; this tactic is known as a filibuster. A formal change to the Senate's rules is even more difficult to make: Senate rule 22 says that such a change requires a two-thirds majority of those present and voting to end debate (67 votes if all senators vote).

The nuclear option is used in response to a filibuster or other delaying tactic. A Senator makes a point of order calling for an immediate vote on the measure before the body, outlining what circumstances allow for this. The presiding officer of the Senate, usually the vice president of the United States or the president pro tempore, makes a parliamentary ruling upholding the senator's point of order. The Constitution is cited at this point, since otherwise the presiding officer is bound by precedent. A supporter of the filibuster may challenge the ruling by asking, "Is the decision of the Chair to stand as the judgment of the Senate?" This is referred to as "appealing from the Chair." An opponent of the filibuster will then move to table the appeal. As tabling is non-debatable, a vote is held immediately. A simple majority decides the issue. If the appeal is successfully tabled, then the presiding officer's ruling that the filibuster is unconstitutional is thereby upheld. Thus a simple majority is able to cut off debate, and the Senate moves to a vote on the substantive issue under consideration. The effect of the nuclear option is not limited to the single question under consideration, as it would be in a cloture vote. Rather, the nuclear option effects a change in the operational rules of the Senate, so that the filibuster or dilatory tactic would thereafter be barred by the new precedent.

The term "nuclear option" has come to be used generically for a procedural maneuver with potentially serious consequences, to be used as a last resort to overcome political opposition.

Hassan To Be Charged With Domestic Terrorism?

Rumor around Washington D.C. is that the Obama Administration wants the Fort Hood  shootings by Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan to be treated as "domestic terrorism" with prosecution to be in the U.S. Federal Courts!

The reasoning: Hassan reached out to a radical muslim imamin Falls Church Virginia, who himself was directly tied to two of the 19 hijackers on 9-11.  That imam left for Yemen in 2002, and his lectures there in support of al Qaeda have appeared on the computers of terrorists suspects in the U.S., Canada and the U.K.


The Fort Hood murders make it clear once again that Islamic terrorism is a national security and a domestic U.S. security problem as well.  Why our military failed to act upon numerous reports and complaints that Hassan was abusing his position as an Army psychologist spewing al-qaeda propaganda is beyond me, however it's abundantly clear that Hassan was at the time of the attacks, and is today subject to the Uniform Code of Military Justice, and any attempts by the Obama Administration and Attorney General Eric Holder should be met by mass protests by all in this country - our Armed Forces as well.

How The Government Is Swallowing The Economy

You know about the bailouts, the stimulus plan, cash for clunkers, and moola for mansions. But for all the anxiety they've caused, those government giveaways are just a tiny part of a mushrooming problem.

By one measure, the government already plays an outsize role in our so-called free-market economy--and it has little to do with the recession. Economist Gary Shilling has calculated that 58 percent of the population is dependent on the government for "major parts of their income," including teachers, soldiers, bureaucrats, and other government employees; welfare and Social Security recipients; government pensioners; public housing beneficiaries; and people who work for government contractors. By 2018, Shilling estimates, an astounding 67 percent of Americans could be dependent on the government for their livelihood. The implications aren't comforting.

Tea-party ranters might cite this as evidence of liberal policies run amok, but the growing-government phenomenon transcends party politics. In 1950, the starting point for Shilling's analysis, just 29 percent of the nation depended on government for its income. By 1980, that had risen to 61 percent--higher than it is today--thanks to demographic factors and the needs of a changing nation. The military got larger and defense spending grew as America took up its role as a superpower. Baby boomer kids required many more schoolteachers. The number of Americans receiving payouts from Social Security, enacted in 1935, increased 10-fold. Food stamps and other safety-net programs of the 1960s and '70s began to reach millions of Americans.

From 1980 to 2000, Americans became less dependent on government. California and other states cut their budgets and reduced spending. The military got smaller after the Cold War ended. Welfare reform in the 1990s kicked many people off the dole. And the private sector boomed during those two decades, accounting for a larger share of the labor force. By 2000, the portion of the population dependent on government had drifted down to 54 percent.

But it reversed course after that, and it seems poised to keep going up. The size of government has generally held steady since 2000, but globalization, technology, and other factors have led to weak private-sector job creation over the past decade. And that was before the recession destroyed more than 8 million jobs. So the government has employed an increased share of Americans. The other big change since 2000 has been a near tripling of food-stamp recipients, as low earners got left out of the housing and stock-market booms and then suffered worse during the recession.

The next big shift will come as baby boomers begin to retire, boosting the number of Social Security recipients 27 percent by 2018 and threatening the solvency of the program. Shilling has another dire prediction: Economic growth will be so weak for the next several years that without government support, the unemployment rate will rise to 23 percent in 2018. Since that's politically intolerable, government will continue to spend money to create jobs, he predicts, with nearly 25 million additional Americans employed as a direct outcome of government spending by 2018.

If that happens, more than two thirds of the nation will owe their livelihood to the government, which is unsustainable for a number of reasons. It will require federal deficits far larger than the $1.4 trillion bogy we've got now, which is already alarmingly high. If irate voters don't rein in America's debt binge, market forces will, perhaps because foreigners will stop lending us the money or the rates they demand will rise and effectively bankrupt the country. Higher taxes would help solve the problem--and are probably inevitable--but enacting them on rich people alone won't be enough. At some point not too far off, the U.S. government will have to close the vast gap between its income and its spending, and the pain will be widespread.

Some economists are more optimistic than Shilling, with stronger projections for economic growth that might eliminate the government's need to create 25 million new jobs. But rosier scenarios are taking their time to materialize. The unemployment rate has soared to 10.2 percent, a 26-year high, with no indication that companies will start hiring again anytime soon. So instead of restraint by government, Congress and President Obama have extended housing subsidies and unemployment insurance, cut taxes on struggling companies, and even made plans to send a $250 check to every senior citizen, just as a nice gesture. Americans who can get in on this bonanza should get theirs while they can. Sooner or later, the door is going to slam shut.
