Ten Reasons Why The Obama Economy Is Worse Than You Think

Today’s article is for those remaining Obama supporters.  You know who you are, the incredible shrinking pool of liberal white-guilt voters who lately have been questioning exactly why you voted for “the one.”

If you thought the economy was bad under President Bush (remember 4.5% unemployment being the “worst economy” since WW2?) here’s  our own version of the “Top Ten List” compliments of Mort Zuckerman of all people, from today’s Wall Street Journal:

 

1. Companies are now asking employees to take unpaid leave, as opposed to being laid'-off or other forms of reduction in work force.

2. 1.4 million unemployed workers are no longer counted because the Government believes they are no longer “actively looking” for work.

3. Part-time employment has doubled to 9 million workers since Obama took office.

4. The average work week is now 48 minutes shorter than when the recession began in December of 2007.

5. The number of long-term unemployed is now at 4.4 million, an all time high.  (Note: the long-term unemployed number doubled during Obama’s first 6 months in office.)

6. There have been no wage gains in six (6) months straight.  Another Obama economy “first.”

7. The manufacturing sector in the United States lost over 223,000 jobs in June alone.  (A total of 467,000 jobs were lost in June across all non-farm payrolls.)

8. When business picks up, companies will add hours to their existing workers, rather than create new jobs.

9. Some business lines are being eliminated entirely, decreasing the odds that the unemployed will be able to find work. (Circuit City anyone?)

10.  To determine the number of unemployed, the Government used a random sample of 185,000 people in June, but could not very the employment or unemployment status of those sampled.  This means the actual amount of unemployed/underemployed in the country could actually be much higher than that being “officially” reported.

As if this weren’t bad enough, those of you who are unemployed will have a harder time finding a job than in previous recessions because businesses are refusing to hire the unemployed.  That’s right, in today’s economy in order to get a job, you have to already have one.  If you’re unemployed in the Obama economy, you’re considered “dead weight” whereas those still working are considered the cream of the crop and the most desireable.

So Obama voters, how’s that hope and change working out for ya?

House Democrats Seek $540 BILLION Tax Increase

Buried in the Friday Afternoon News “Dump”, Democrats Plan Largest Tax Increase in US History

Those dirty rotten Democrats led by Pelosi and Read almost slipped this one by us.  Late Friday afternoon at 4:14pm EST, House Ways & Means Committee Chariman Charles (“Tax Cheater”) Rangle announced that House Democrats will increase income taxes by $540 BILLION dollars over a 10 year period to pay for Obama’s health care plan.

As we’ve come to expect with this Administration, releasing this type of news on a late Friday afternoon is a typical public relations tactic used by those politicians who want to limit news coverage of items they nonetheless need to release.

In addition to increasing taxes, House Democrats plan on creating a “Surtax” on any individual or small business making more than $200,000 a year.  So much for Obama’s answer to “Joe The Plumber” during the 2008 Campaign.

The “Surtax” House Democrats are planning on implementing would further increase the income tax rate for people and small businesses paying taxes in the top income brackets (i.e. above $200,000.)

On Saturday morning, the Washington Post published a report on its Web site about the planned tax increase, under the headline—“Democrats Agree on Tax Hike to Fund Health Care.”

“Beginning in 2011, the plan would target all income over $350,000 a year for families and $280,000 a year for individuals, Democratic sources said,” the Post reported. “The surtax would start at 1 percent, rise to around 1.5 percent for families earning more than $500,000, then step up again, to around 3 percent, for families earning more than $1 million, Democrats said.”

The Post did note that this tax increase would come on top of tax increases that the Democrats were already planning by allowing the Bush tax cuts to expire.

Under Obama’s tax-increase plan, individuals making $200,000 or more would be subject to the new 36% rate. The income “surtax” House Democrats now plan would come on top of Obama’s tax increases.

The top federal tax rate currently stands at 35 percent, but Democrats have vowed to raise it to 39.6 percent next year, when cuts enacted during the Bush administration expire, reported the Post.  Combined with other federal tax adjustments, the surtax could leave most taxpayers with annual incomes more than $350,000 facing top federal rates of at least 45 percent, said Robert Carroll, a senior fellow at the nonprofit Tax Foundation.”

This is the “mandate” the Democrats think they won in 2008 – to increase taxes and kill more jobs in an economy that’s already shedding 500,000+ jobs a month for the last 7 months running!

Obama’s Disapproval Rating At All-Time High

Bad News for Obama, Democrats Again

Rasmussen’s Daily Presidential Tracking Poll shows an increasing disapproval rating for Obama and his policies.  The news for Obama and his Administration just keeps getting worse. 

Only 30% of American’s now “strongly approve” of Obama, which is within 8 percentage points of President Bush’s all time lows.  Fully 37% of voters strongly disapprove of Obama according to Friday’s Daily Presidential Tracking Poll.

Overall, only 51% of voters have a favorable or somewhat favorable view of Obama, with 48% disapproving.   My how the mighty have fallen from the previous approval rating of 72% in February of this year.

The strong disapproval rating no doubt reflects the public’s reaction to Obama’s “Cap and Tax” proposals, as well as his proposed “Health Care Legislation” which would seize control of the Health Care industry and institute rationing, which 82% of American’s believe would happen under Obama’s proposal.  But why else have Obama’s ratings fallen so quickly and so steeply? 

Let’s start with the national unemployment average of 9.5%, the highest since 1983.  Previously Obama was able to deflect blame for the economy onto President Bush but that’s no longer the case.  American’s are waking up to the fact that Obama has blown $787 billion dollars of Taxpayer money and has nothing to show for it.  Job losses on a month over month basis have been increasing with some 14 million American’s out of work.  Clearly Obama now owns this crap sandwich.

Then there’s additional polling data which shows that a majority of voters (52%) now trust Republican’s with 8 of 10 key issues including the economy.   Republicans also lead on national security, as voters put North Korea at  the top of the list of threats to U.S. national security as Obama seems powerless to do anything about Kim Jung Il’s threats to have a nuclear war with the United States.  Voters also trust Republican’s on Taxes, the war in Iraq, taxes, ethics and corruption  and immigration.  On the issue of abortion, Republican’s hold the largest lead in a decade, with 46% trusting them vs. 34% for Democrats.

For the first time in over 2 years, Republican’s lead Democrats on the issue of Social Security by nearly 6 points, and Democrats have seen their party’s two strongest points – Health Care and Education slip to within the polling margin of error, down from a nearly 20 point lead in May.

On the matter of Sonia Sotomayor’s nomination to the US Supreme Court, 72% of American’s according to a Yahoo/CNN poll believe that her confirmation to the highest court in the land would be detrimental to the Court and the Country.

In other bad news for Obama:

• 54% of voters oppose “Cash for Clunkers”
• 73% oppose any “second stimulus” plan
• 65% oppose Obama’s proposed “health care reform”
• 55% want the Government to stay out of the housing mess
• 43% want Government Mortgage Assistance ended

Clearly the time is ripe for a Republican Revolution ala 1992, the question is will the Republican Party find its backbone and learn how to fight this President and win on the issues, or will they continue to roll over like a bunch of spineless jellyfish?

My own bet is on the spineless jellyfish option.

The Depraved One

Perhaps Michelle “cut him off” and he’s not getting any at home anymore.  Here we see the sitting President of the United States of America ogling a 17 year old girl from Rio de Janeiro named Mayara Tavares.

Is Obama’s “inner Clinton” coming out?  At least in Clinton’s defense he chose someone who was legally of age in the United States, no matter how disgusting of a pig Monica Lewinsky actually was.

 

While ABC News is attempting to spin the above picture as Obama “watching his step”  anyone who looks at the picture  knows Obama is casually  checking out this underage girl, Mayara Tavares.  Forget “The One” he’s a lecher.    Don’t believe us?   Watch the video itself, which makes it crystal clear where Sarkozy was looking. 

As the old saying goes, the “proof is in the pudding” that Obama has a wandering eye where younger women are concerned, so here’s another picture from the same conference.  Notice Obama looking down this younger woman’s back to her …. “booty” and Sarkozy’s lecherous look as both he and Obama examine the woman’s back-side. 

Now that we have two examples, is it reasonable to think that Obama is just “watching his step” above?  Of course it isn’t.  Obama’s eyes are never in the direction that he’s stepping, and always in the direction of Mayara Tavares, including in the video.

What does this mean? It’s just one more log on the fire that proves the ‘mainstream media’ is completely in the tank for Obama.  They can spin this all they want, right-thinking people with a modicum of brain capacity know where this depraved President was looking.

I just hope Michelle teaches him a lesson when he gets back to the White House. If there’s one thing black women hate, it’s when black men’s wandering eyes wander towards white women.

More Disapprove of Obama than Approve

A new Rasmussen daily Presidential tracking poll shows that more American’s now strongly disapprove of Obama than approve.

Just 32% of those polled “strongly approve” of Obama’s performance in office, while 37% strongly disapprove.  This gives Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of –5.  Overall, 48% disapprove of Obama’s performance.   The Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who Strongly Disapprove from the number who Strongly Approve.

In the past three months, Obama’s disapproval rating has steadily increased, while those who approve of his performance has steadily declined.  His approval rating has fallen to 52% as of yesterday, down  from 72% just after his inauguration in January. 

Surely last week’s (much) higher than expected job losses, and increase in the unemployment rate to 9.5%, the admission that Obama and Biden had “mis-read” the economy and growing concern over Obama’s mistakes in Iran, North Korea and now Honduras also had an impact. 

The Rasmussen Investor Index saw a huge jump in investor disapproval, with the majority of investors (51%) now strongly disapproving of Obama’s performance stating the economy is getting worse under his inept leadership.

“Change” you can believe in alright.  American’s are finally waking up to the fraud that is the Obama Presidency.  It’s only a matter of time now before the lamestream media realizes that they can’t cover for his ineptness and they actually begin doing their jobs and reporting on his failures.

What Are Obama & The Democrats Afraid Of?

Last Friday’s surprise announcement by Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska set her critics off spinning anew as to what she’s up to, and her plans for 2012 like never before.

As a Governor, Palin was a sitting duck to the Democrats.  Never before have they reacted so viscerally towards a Conservative politician, save for perhaps Ronald Reagan. 

The question is, why?  What’s behind their constant attacks of Palin and her family?  Is this Bush Derangement Syndrome part deux, or is there something more sinister behind the attacks on Palin and members of her family?

Today we “cracked the code” on why the Democrats are so obsessed with Palin.  According to a new Gallup poll, Conservatism is on the rise.  In fact, more American’s now describe their political leanings as “Conservative” than “Moderate” or “Liberal”  which doesn’t bode well for the Democrat Party.

And that’s just for starters.  According to other polling data, more than 70% of American’s think that the “economic stimulus” package promoted by Obama and passed by Democrats spent too much money for too few results.  More than 80% are concerned about exploding budget deficits (which are now 3x more than the largest deficit under Bush.)  More than 85% are happy with the health care they have. This news doesn’t bode well for Obama’s plans for America.

But wait, the news gets worse still for Obama and the Democrats.  According to Gallup, on average 82% of American’s view themselves as “Moderate” or “Conservative”  (39% Conservative, 42% “Moderate.”) The majority of Republican’s consider themselves Conservative (47%) versus “Moderate” (43%.)

Amongst the coveted “Independent” voters, 37% consider themselves Conservative, 43% “Moderate” and 19% “liberal.”  In this category, Conservatives have gained more than 10% of Independents since Obama took office.

Now the kicker: 34% of Democrats now consider themselves “Conservative” up from 25% when Obama took office.  40% consider themselves “Moderate” while just 23% of Democrats claim to be “liberal.”

When you total up the gains in the number of people who now consider themselves “Conservative” versus those who claim to be “liberal” one can see that this President is in a tremendous amount of trouble just about 6 months into his Presidency.

Is it 1993 all over again?  Considering Obama has repeated several of Bill Clinton’s mistakes (ie: health care, talking down the economy, “blame the rich” policies, expansion of welfare, explosion of Government spending) its not hard to see at all that this White House is in for one heck of an ass-whooping come November of 2010.

To top it off, the one person that they’re most afraid of, Sarah Palin, is about to hit the nationwide campaign trail for Conservative candidates ahead of the 2010 ‘mid term’ elections.  The Democrats can no longer file endless, frivolous ethics complaints against her as Governor of Alaska every time she leaves the state.  No longer can they attack her family as she’s put the media on notice that their words will be held against them in a court of law. 

Why are they afraid of Sarah Palin?  Several reasons.

First, like a mother bear protecting her young, she’s turned to fight  those who would attack her family.   The Democrat controlled lamestream media stepped way over the line in attacking Willow  (Letterman) and Trig along with claims that Bristol’s child was actually Palin’s.  One can only suspect that like any good mother, Palin simply ‘had enough’ of the attacks and did what she had to do to stop them. 

Second, Palin chose to put Alaska’s needs above her own.  In coming to this conclusion, I had but one basic question to ask myself: “Do I believe Sarah Palin is a genuine person, who says what she means?” The answer to that question was an unqualified “yes” on my part.  In this regard, Palin demonstrated to all (including her detractors) that she wasn’t about to let the good work of her Administration and the people around her be torn down by Democrat apparatchik's continual filing of frivolous ethics complaints.  Here Palin demonstrated something no other Democrat in this Congress or White House has to date: INTEGRITY.

Finally, the biggest reason that the Democrats and Obama have been so viscerally attacking Palin is because she clearly articulates Conservative values and principles in a way that the average Joe on the street can understand.  Much like Ronald Reagan, Palin has the gift of being able to directly connect with the public, bypassing the media’s filters and spin.  When one listens to her message and the words she uses to articulate it, there’s no mistaking where she stands.  The media can’t ‘spin’ it because there is no ambiguity when Palin speaks.  Sound familiar?  Perahaps it’s because she’s “Reagan in a skirt” as I described her the very first time I had a chance to hear her speak.  I think we all recall how much the media hated Reagan, for very much the same reason.

So there you have it: a declining political identity for the Democrats/Liberals, and an ascending identification of Conservatism in this country combined with Sarah Palin as “Reagan in a skirt” articulating Conservative values and principles.

That is why the Democrats and Obama are running scared, and I’ll predict right here and now as I did last month that it’s 1993 all over again.  The stage is set for a Conservative rout in 2010.  All we needed was someone who embodied true Conservative values and could articulate them to a public that’s now clamoring for true CHANGE only six months into a now FAILED Obama Administration.

While the media may spin this as a “pro Zelaya” rally, it’s anything but.  These Honduran’s are sick and tired of so-called “world leaders” telling them to restore Zelaya, the Chavez wanna-be dictator in waiting.

Report: U.S. to block Iran sanctions at G8 Summit:

According to officials, sanctions against Iran are expected to top the G8's agenda. Sources are also predicting a pointed debate between the heads of the industrialized nations over an appropriate response to Iranian authorities' suppression of reformist demonstrations in Iran led by Mir Hossein Mousavi and other Iranian opposition leaders.

However, diplomatic sources in New York reported that American officials are working behind the scenes to prevent new sanctions from being imposed against Iran.

Experts Find Soviet Parts in North Korean Missile:

WASHINGTON —  With concerns rising about a possible North Korean long-range missile test this weekend, two independent scientists say the regime may be using an old Soviet ballistic missile to boost a rocket capable of reaching the West Coast of the United States.

North Korea is not known to have nuclear warheads and faces years of research and testing before building such a reliable weapon.

But the scientists say that if North Korea does have such a Russian-made ballistic missile in its arsenal, it could modify the rocket into a two-stage missile that could reach Seattle, Wash., carrying a 900-kilogram warhead, or San Francisco carrying a 700-kilogram charge.

Editors Note: Knew it all along.  Does it really surprise anyone that one Communist regime (Putin/Russia) is propping up and helping another?  The old Communist saying “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” sure applies here.  We’re just waiting for the “revelation” that North Korea is doing China’s bidding to finally be revealed.  Don’t you wish Washington DC was as smart as those of us in fly-over country who exercise such common sense?

Honduras Leaves OAS After Body Decries “Coup”

TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras (AP) — Honduras rebuffed demands by the international community to reinstate President Manuel Zelaya and pulled out of the Organization of American States, thrusting the poor Central American nation deeper into political crisis and isolation.

Zelaya was traveling in Central America but planned to return to Honduras on Sunday, according to Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega. Honduras' interim government has said it will arrest Zelaya if he returns, setting up a potentially volatile showdown.

In a letter to Insulza read on state television Friday night, interim Honduran President Roberto Micheletti wrote that "the OAS is a political organization, not a court, and it can't judge us."

"The government rejects the attempts of the OAS to impose unilateral resolutions," said the letter read by deputy foreign minister Martha Lorena Alvarado.

Editors Note: This is probably the only media account that we’ve read today that got it right.  Other media accounts state Zelaya’s removal from office was an “illegal coup” and that the OAS “suspended” Honduras.  Both claims are incorrect.  As we stated on Monday, earlier this week (Click for entire article):

Anytime one finds themselves agreeing with Hugo Chavez, they’d best check the premise of their agreement.  Therein lies the illogic of the Obama Administration in refusing to “meddle” in one country’s affairs, while directly meddling in another’s.  The illogic here is stunning. 

We were right on Monday and we’re right now.  Obama is on the wrong side of history, and the Lamestream media’s attempts to distort the truth cannot hide the fact that Zelaya’s actions were illegal according to Honduras’ Constitution, and his subsequent removal from office and expulsion from Honduras actually protected Honduras’ citizens and Constitution.  Obama’s backing of a Communist wanna-be Hugo Chavez in Honduras reveals Obama’s true intentions for the United States.  Sometimes pictures say a thousand words, does anyone else see the resemblance between Obama and Chavez?

Attorney General To Classify Pro-Life, Pro-Gun American’s as Terrorists

An amendment to a bill swiftly moving through the US Congress will allow the Obama Administration's Attorney General to classify Americans as domestic terrorists if they are pro-life, pro-gun and anti-big government.

Impeached Florida judge -- now a Democrat Party member of the House of Representatives -- Rep. Alcee Hastings introduced what some claim is a disturbing piece of legislation. Hasting's amendment calls for the Attorney General to have discretion over who is called a terrorist and what groups will be treated as terrorist groups.

Wall Street Journal: Al Franken Stole The Election

The Minnesota Supreme Court yesterday declared Democrat Al Franken the winner of last year’s disputed Senate race, and Republican incumbent Norm Coleman’s gracious concession at least spares the state any further legal combat. The unfortunate lesson is that you don’t need to win the vote on Election Day as long as your lawyers are creative enough to have enough new or disqualified ballots counted after the fact. 

  What Mr. Franken understood was that courts would later be loathe to overrule decisions made by the canvassing board, however arbitrary those decisions were. He was right.

Editors Note: Al Franken’s lawyers knew the Communist rule in challenging the results: It’s not who casts the votes, it’s who counts the votes.  With ACORN firmly in the pocket of the the current Barack Hussein Obama administration, one can only expect this problem to become larger until Republicans or dare we say “We The People” learn to fight back against this corruption.

In Backing A Tyrant in Honduras, Obama Sets Stage for Constitutional Showdown

A resolution, H.J. Res. 5, was introduced into committee on January 6, 2009 which seeks to repeal the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution, thus removing term limits for U.S. presidents.

Yes, you read it right. Democrat Representative Jose Serrano of New York wishes to allow unlimited terms for President Obama.

The presidential term limit was ratified as an amendment to the Constitution in 1951. However, our founding fathers adhered to the principle of a two-term limit on their own accord. The only president that served more than two terms was Democrat President Franklin Roosevelt, who served four non-consecutive terms.

Shall we go the way of the Venezuelan dictatorship? Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez and President Obama both expressed opposition to the recent ousting of Honduran President Manuel Zelaya, calling it a coup, rather than a legal overthrow of a president who was violating Honduran law and attempting to change their constitution (illegally) to permit him to stay in office indefinitely. The action had gone through the proper legal process, was voted on by the Honduran Supreme Court and Congress, and had the support of the majority of the people.

According to an AP report, Obama stated, "We believe that the coup was not legal and that President Zelaya remains the democratically elected president there. It would be a terrible precedent if we start moving backwards into the era in which we are seeing military coups as a means of political transition rather than democratic elections," he added. "The region has made enormous progress over the last 20 years in establishing democratic traditions. ... We don't want to go back to a dark past."

What’s he afraid of? Why would Obama side with a tyrant rather than the people of Honduras? Could this “precedent” be a threat to his future plans?

The AP article also reports that Obama said the United States will "stand on the side of democracy" and work with other nations and international groups to resolve the matter peacefully. What does this mean – "work with other nations and international groups"? Does this mean he intends to intervene in the results of the Honduran political process in ousting their tyrant?

I am outraged by our president’s support for a power-hungry tyrant over the will of the people.
