Sending Lawyers To Do Marine’s Jobs
This morning, Janet Napolitano the head of the Department of Homeland Security told CNN viewers that yesterday “the system worked”, preventing a terrorist attack on U.S. soil in which Northwest Airlines flight 253 and its passengers were almost blown out of the sky by a known terrorist, Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab.
Which part of the system “worked” Miss. Napolitano?
Was it the part that ignored warnings from Mutallab’s own father, a respected international banker who was so concerned about his son’s radical Islam views that he warned our embassy in Nigeria?
Was it the part of the system that gave Mutallab an unrestricted Visa to enter the United States?
Was it the part of the system that didn’t put Mutallab on the no-fly list because there “wasn’t enough information?”
Perhaps it was the part of the system that failed to recognize that both Mutallab and Army Major Nidal Malik Hassan (the Fort Hood Islamic terrorist who killed 14) both had ties to extremist Yemeni cleric Anwar al-Awlaki, a known al-Qaeda extremist.
Or perhaps it was the part of the system that allowed Mutallab to transfer flights and enter the United States without being re-checked in Amsterdam before boarding Northwest Airlines flight 253?
Mutullab had red-flags all over him and yet our own Department of Homeland Security failed in its mission to protect the American people.
Were this to happen under the Bush Administration, the hoots and howls for firing the Department of Homeland Security Chief would be sounding non-stop, yet here we have the lamestream media protecting Obama and Napolitano.
For Napolitano to say “the system worked” on CNN’s “State of the Union” show this morning simply flies in the face of common sense that thankfully, most American’s still have. Were it not for Dutch tourist Jasper Schuringa who tackled Mutullab and extinguished the fire that would’ve detonated the micro bomb, we’d be talking about 278 passengers and 11 crew members deaths on Christmas Day.
The truth is, not a single part of the DHS’ or TSA’s inspections or processes worked. What did work was an alert Dutchman who saved the lives of those on board.
Rather than send Eric Holder to investigate the “alleged attack” on Northwest Airlines flight 253, the Obama Administration would be better served taking a hard line on these terrorist scumballs by sending in the U.S. Marines to fix the problem.
Obama’s pre-9/11 approach to the defense of America doesn’t serve this country well, and only has the terrorists laughing as they plan more attacks on U.S. soil. When one of them succeeds, the fault will rest squarely on Obama’s shoulders.
